Google Drive is finally live and is available for users. But this is
not the only new online cloud service. One more cloud service is now
also in the market to compete with other cloud storage service. This
service is Skyfile which is launched by Maxthon – the team behind
Maxthon Web Browser for Windows and Android.
This cloud storage service is now available for web, widows, Android
and jailbroken iPhone, iPad & iPod touch. This service brigs 6 GB
cloud storage for free anyone who registers for a new account. With the
desktop client available for windows system, users can keep selective
Skyfile folders in sync with your PC at all times. Android and iOS apps
allows users to remote access all files stored in Skyfile cloud service.
Maxthon alsp claims that the service is advanced and secure than any
other cloud service available.
This service also allow users to shar files with their friends. But
this service first ask users to set the sharing mode. Users can use any
of the given two sharing mode. User can either set the Read-only sharing
mode on the files which will prevent others from making any changes to
files and folders, or user may use the Collaborative-sharing option
which allows multiple users to access and write to the same folder
simultaneously.
SkyFile also allows users to set a expiry period for the shared file.
After the tim period is over no one will be able to access the file
with the share link.
If we talk about the mobile clients of the service, Android app is
available to download from Google Play and supports all the devices
running on Android v2.2 or higher. The iOS version of the app has been
designed to work only with jailbroken devices, that is, it has not yet
been released in the iTunes App Store. These mobile apps allow users to
access the content of their Skyfile account from remote locations
anytime they wish.
You can add content to your favorites list, create new Skyfile
folders, upload files to your account, download content to access it
offline, and share files with others via temporary links.
As the service allow users to use 6 GB for free but users who need
more space can upgrade to a Premium account with 50GB of cloud storage
for $9.99 per month, or $99 per year.
